New COVID Isolation/Quarantine Guidelines

New isolation/quarantine guidelines are as follows:

  • 5 day isolation/5 day masked

Students who test positive for Covid will isolate 5 full days from onset of symptoms.  They will be allowed to return on day 6 as long as they have been fever free for 24 hours and their symptoms, if present, must be significantly improved.  They MUST wear a mask at ALL times when they return except when they are eating lunch. They will be able to remove their masks after their 10th day from onset of symptoms.

If they are still running fever or have no improvement of symptoms by day 5, they will be able to return on any day, after the 5th day, when they have been able to remain fever free for 24 hours and have improvement in symptoms.

Students will NOT need a negative test to return to school.

  • 10 day isolation

Students who test positive for Covid will still have the option of isolating at home for 10 full days from onset of symptoms.  They will be allowed to return after their 10th full day of isolation as long as they have been fever free for 24 hours and have improved symptoms.  They will not be required to have a test or wear a mask to return to school.

  • 5 day quarantine/5 day masked

Students who quarantine due to being a possible close contact to a positive case will quarantine 5 full days from the date of last contact with positive case.  They will be allowed to return on day 6 (after their 5th day) as long as they are not showing any symptoms. They MUST wear a mask at ALL times when they return except when they are eating lunch. They will be able to remove their masks after their 10th day in quarantine.

Students will not be required to have a negative test in order to return after their 5th day, however, if they develop symptoms by day 5 they will be required to stay home and test.

  • 10 day quarantine

Students who quarantine due to being a possible close contact to a positive case will still have the option of isolating at home for 10 full days from the date of last contact with the positive case.  They will be allowed to return after their 10th full day of quarantine as long as they do not develop symptoms.  They will not be required to have a negative test or wear a mask when they return.

If they develop symptoms at any point they will be required to stay home and test.

Quarantined students will no longer have the option of testing after their 5th day of quarantine and returning after their 7th day with a negative test.  If the student is unable to quarantine from the positive case their quarantine will begin after the positive cases 5th day.
